Ikkou Satonaka is a monk apprentice. As he is sent by the main temple to the Saienji Buddhist temple, he did not expect to meet there 6 apprentice novices his age. Now, not only he must undergo stressful training to control his spiritual powers, but he must also control his lust - the problem is that his powers can only be unleashed if he reaches high levels of lust, which basically means, seeing the nuns naked.

Pacing

Amaenaideyo! Have two seasons that are directly linked, therefore we will regard them as one single series with two parts (such as Vandread and other two 13 episodes season's anime). One small difference is that each season have 12 episodes, plus an extra DVD-only episode that comes after the ending of each respective season, with an extra ecchi factor and non-censored (the series often suffer a slight censor with some well placed 'fogs')

Amaenaideyo is a standard harem ecchi anime. Although there is no actual love among the nuns and Ikkou (Except the main character, Chitose, which suffer from the standard 'never admit my love' illness from anime - until the end of the series), it's still the usual title where the lead male is among fabulous female bodies - usually naked.

Yet, as much as this title is superficial and ecchi, it's still very funny and some times quite interesting. The first season indeed focuses more at the ecchi and loose episodes, while the second season, besides introducing a new character (a new hot nun - this time perverted), we have a main plot, and a clear focus at character development. Most of the episodes during the second season focus at a character and her development, and we also notice a certain amount of improvement on Ikkou's character. If at first he released his perverted lust at the sight of the girls in lingerie, by the end of the second seasons he needs more than seeing them naked, but actually touching, to release his powers. Obviously, this means the ecchi level gets a little higher, but also shows that the character is controlling his lust to the point of needing more stimuli. Also, most of the events in which he releases his powers, are actually started by one of the nuns stripping on purpose to enable him to use his full powers when facing a powerful evil spirit that they could not, usually, exorcize.

Another interesting aspect is that it gets deep into Buddhist philosophy. The Mendoi fansub did an excellent work with helpful notes explaining all the terms and theories behind the events that happen, and if you pay close attention you might start getting interested in learning more about the terms and Buddhist philosophies approached during the show.

Conclusion

Amaenaideyo is a very exaggerated ecchi harem title, with lots of fan-service/ecchi material, with a sexual context being present all the time (after all, the lead character struggle is against his lust instincts). However, this is done with quite a humorous approach and some times even some taste. The romance between Ikkou and Chitose is 'pleasant' at most, but incredibly dragged and - let's warn you - does not come to a conclusive end. Even so, the character development and charisma are quite good, and the plot especially at the second season is quite passable.

There are lots of biased and prejudice-driven reviews on the Internet about this title because of the excessive ecchiness. A lot of people drop this title after a few episodes because of this - and obviously they have all the right to do it, only one should not judge the whole title based on a few episodes, falling in the same mistake as those who label Divergence Eve as hentai. Amaenaide have it's merits, it's humorous, and it have an interesting approach on Buddhism (I mean, if someone came to preach you, you would never get interested ... but here you will eventually want to search for a term or learn more about it just so you can follow what is going on), and you have to give the title this point.

If not by this, the humor (it?s almost impossible not to laugh when a character gets suddenly undressed and a narrator speaks in plain English ?it?s show time?) and the enough character development we get (again, focused at the second season) are reasons for a viewer to take this as a nice entertainment, and is well indicated to anyone who can stand the always present big bouncing boobs - times 7 (or 8 if we include the high priestess at the second season).
