.hack//黄昏の腕輪伝説 - Preview

Highly suggested that the viewer watches Hack//Sign before watching Hack//Tasogare

Setting

4 Years after the events related on Hack//Sign, Rena and Shuugo - brothers - win a mysterious contest to use the legendary characters of Kite and Black Rose (Game characters). However, soon they find out that it was not CC Company - owner of the game - nor any official board related to the game, which run the contest, and soon a mystery starts unfolding as why their characters are back to use and who allowed them to be used. Now, equipped with a powerful armlet given to him by Aura - a mysterious entity within the game (though watchers of Hack//sign will probably know who she is), Shuugo meets various allies to unfold all the mysteries of this bracelet and their characters.

Pacing

Hack//Tasogare shows us new events on 'The World' that are not too related to hack//Sign since 4 years have passed. However, when explaining some of the mysteries, memories and information from Hack//Sign are used, not only to explain what is going on this time, but also it actually explains some of the mysteries of Hack//Sign! Some loose hints can help us understand not only Hack//Tasogare, but as well some unexplained events on both Hack//Sign and Hack//Liminality.

A little lighter than it's prequels, Hack//Tasogare features more action sequences, and character development and interaction is also somewhat better. Although watching this title might help understand it's prequels, and watching the prequels might help understanding Hack//Tasogare, it's not a MUST to watch them, and new viewers will probably enjoy this as a stand alone work.

Conclusion

With some more development in plot and characters, Tasogare will probably please lots more fans than it's prequels - and therefore - is well indicated to most people, without much restrictions. With some good light-hearted romance, mystery and action sequences, Hack//Tasogare is a good title even separated from the Hack Project.
