Setting

In a distant future, thru Warp technology, mankind expanded to dozens of systems, and met several other civilizations. After a period of adaptation, the different civilizations united in a so called alliance. Now, the 'Cosmo Academy' trains the best of the best, future leaders for their respective planets and expertise areas.

On the last selection test to enter Cosmo Academy, 10 recruits are selected and sent to a mysterious derelict ship where they are supposed to live alone and without outside help for 53 days. They have not only to maintain the old ship operational, but also adapt to several dangers. If one of them fails, all fail - they must live together. However, as they get to the ship, they soon find out that something is wrong, as there are actually 11 recruits within them! Now, aside fighting for their survivor on a wrecked ship filled with troubles, they have also to learn about how to trust each other, as one of them is not what looks like.

Pacing

This is a pleasant and intriguing title as '11 nin iru' follows the sequence of problems and solutions they met during their stay at the derelict ship, as well as the conflicts, friendships and even care among the candidates arise.

Although a little old in animation style, '11 nin iru' manages to overlap all the animation problems having an intriguing and suspenseful plot with fabulous characters - which are, although we have only 2 hours of movie, beautifully developed and explored, though that reduces time for some mysteries be better developed and less predictable: this seams to be a character driven plot, so this don't actually get in the way.

Conclusão

Certainly a nice work to be watched at an idle weekend for any fan, even non sci-fi fans. The animation is old (as the title is back from 1986), but the plot and characters certainly lift this title up.
